Fort Pickett Virginia

In Virginia Beach, I looked up at that first obstacle in total dread. After the summer melting in GP Medium tents on Onslow Beach, I had taken over as the S-3 Training Officer for the 11th Transportation Battalion. Little Creek Naval Annex had the Navy Seal Obstacle Course. As the Training Officer, I’d signed up the battalion companies to run through it. I was first in the chute, with 78 nervous, skeptical 88-Hotels watching. Up I went. My arms hadn’t collapsed. I moved on. Every soldier followed. Only one fell off the Cargo Net obstacle.
