1.
2011 July
Low-side
Summit Point Raceway
Main Circuit Turn #3
Ninja 250
Was following Cutter, last session, last day, he was trying to help me raise my game
I was pushing
Bike went right out from under me
Didn’t feel any SRs
I thought I’d leaned over too far, lost traction;
Alex said “No, you probably pivoted on that centerstand of yours”
For 1000 track miles I had occasionally been scraping hard parts when failing to keep the Ninja (16” wheels) sufficiently upright
Failure to ride own ride
SR #6
Broke shift lever
Deranged the inner gear selector (1st, N avail only)
Left front turn signal snapped off
1. Identify exact turn-in point
2. Monitor lean angle
3. Monitor self for riding own ride
4. Last session, last day, take her easy
5. Dummyproof the bike, remove things like centerstand
6. Be extra aware of bikes that will only tolerate less lean angle
i.e.
BMW with cylinder heads sticking out
Ninja with 16” wheels and hardparts
2.

Summit Point Raceway
Shenandoah Circuit Turn #5
BMW R1100S
Rear end shake, was not sure if slide or stutter
I diagnosed too much lean angle
I decided to roll-on to lift the bike up
Thought to myself “This is fkkkg great!”
I rolled on the gas having a blast
Did not experience fear, did not brake
First trackday of the season, over-exuberant; did not review homework, put my head in the game
Feeling competitive with the other 2 students
Failure to ride own ride
SR #6
Bike fared better than I did
Broke a bunch of things
Did not ride the bike home.
